National Burn Care Group

The National Burn Care Group (NBCG) was set up in 2003 by members of the NHS’ Specialist Commissioning Groups. It draws its authority from those groups, with a membership designed to reflect the interests of all those involved in burn care, including patient representatives.

Established to follow up the National Burn Care Review 2001, the group's purpose is to implement the recommendations of the review. This includes developing key initiatives such as the National Burns Major Incident Plan.

The overriding aim for all this work is to create the best practice in burn care across the country, from the way basic care is planned to rehabilitation in the community.
