We would like to thank everyone who supported us at Charity Stall on MONDAY, 30 NOVEMBER and TUESDAY, 1 DECEMBER 2009. The weather was cold and wet on the Monday but Tuesday was dry, cold and sunny and we were very busy!
| Burn patients can suffer years of pain and suffering, operations and many mental and physical difficulties. Families too can suffer long term difficulties. Post hospital support for survivors of burns is very sparse in the UK and this is fully acknowledged by the medical profession. In this region the support offered by B.U.G.S. is the only befriending support of its kind available to people who have been burned. |
| Compiling information for patients and their families which contains helpful advice about coping and caring for their burn at home, as well as other relevant items. | ||||
| An informative video/DVD (The Vital B.U.G.S. Video) which has been specially made by the B.U.G.S. team to enhance information provided on the care of the healing process. | ||||
| A Newsletter twice a year sent to members and donors. | ||||
| Booklets which provide helpful information for patients and their families about coping and caring for their burn after leaving hospital. | ||||
| To provide Welcome Packs of emergency toiletries on admission to the Burns Unit. | ||||
| Fund Raising to provide: | ||||
| Grants to send children annually to Burned Children’s Camps | ||||
| Discretionary grants to assist adults and families in various ways | ||||
| Intermittent projects which make life in hospital more bearable e.g The Quiet Room (Click here to access) | ||||
| The support of relevant Research that will benefit B.U.G.S. members. | ||||
Help for this worthwhile charity is always gratefully received. Those who have benefited do tell us.
