DrDoctor

We use an online Patient Portal provided by our NHS partner organisation DrDoctor to communicate with you about your care.

You can access your Patient Portal using any smartphone, computer or tablet.

There’s no need to sign up for an account or download any software, all you need to do is follow the secure link sent to you by email or text message.

You will then be asked to login using your last name, date of birth and postcode and you be sent a one-time code for extra security.

Adding your contact details

  1. Login to your DrDoctor portal using your last name, date of birth and postcode
  2. Once logged in, select 'Settings' at the top of the page
  3. From the settings menu, select 'Add new'
  4. Select the type of contact you would like to add, either phone or email
  5. Fill in the phone or email field and select 'Add' - this will add the contact method to your DrDoctor portal.

Changing your contact preferences

  1. Login to your DrDoctor portal using your last name, date of birth and postcode
  2. Once logged in, select 'Settings' at the top of the page
  3. From the settings menu you can use the toggle next to each of the contact fields to choose how you want to be contact
  4. Under 'Letter settings' you can also select yes or no to going paperless with your communication.

How do I create an account on DrDoctor?

There’s no need to sign up for an account or download any software.

There is no username or password for DrDoctor.

All you need to do is follow the secure link sent to you by email or text message.

Once you click on the link and complete the verification process, you will be able to access your appointment information.

You can access your Patient Portal using any smartphone, computer or tablet.

What can I use DrDoctor for?

  • View and download appointment letters
  • View the location of your appointment
  • View important clinical information
  • Add your appointment to your personal calendar
  • Request to cancel or reschedule your appointment.

What is the web address (URL) of the DrDoctor Patient Portal?

The address of the Patient Portal is: https://my.drdoctor.co.uk/

The DrDoctor Patient Portal is a web application that has been designed specifically to work perfectly on mobile devices.

It is not a downloadable App.

The majority of patients access the DrDoctor Patient Portal via the web link in the text messages they receive.

What if I miss or do not open my email or text message?

If you do not view your letter online within three days, you will be sent a paper letter in the post. This ensures that no patient misses any important information.

How can I change or cancel my appointment?

If you need to cancel or change your appointment at short notice, please phone us as soon as possible using the phone number on your clinic letter.

Please give as much notice as possible so that we can offer the appointment to another patient.

You do not need to phone us to confirm that you will be attending your appointment.

We presume you will be attending your appointment unless you tell us you will not be. 

Do I need to print my appointment letter?

No, you do not need to print your appointment letter.

You can download your appointment letter for safekeeping if you wish, however it will always be available to view on DrDoctor.

How do I know I can trust the text or email?

Text messages from DrDoctor will always come from 07860 039 092.

Please save this number in your phone as Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust so that you know text messages are from us.

The URL link to view your digital letter includes drdoctor.thirdparty.nhs.uk.

You must sign in to the DrDoctor Patient Portal before you can see any personal patient data.

If you are ever unsure, please do not hesitate to phone 01793 604020 and ask to speak to the department or clinic relating to your appointment.

Always check who the letter is for, and whether it relates to you or your dependents.

What if I have more than one appointment?

You can view and manage multiple appointments via DrDoctor.

Why does my appointment say I am booked in for 25th December?

If you receive a letter saying that you have an appointment on 25 December, this means you have been added to a holding clinic.

A holding clinic is not a real appointment. It means you have been added to a waiting list of patients who are waiting to be given an appointment date and time.

We will contact you with your appointment date and time as soon as possible.

How is my data managed?

DrDoctor meets the strict NHS and national standards for data protection and security

The NHS provides DrDoctor with solely the information it needs to provide this service.
