Who we are

Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is one of the biggest healthcare providers and employers in the South West, with over 2.5 million patient contacts a year, our 5,500+ devoted staff work hard to provide exceptional patient care every day.

Our vision is to provide great services for local people at home, in the community and in hospital, enabling independent and healthier lives.

In addition to our location, staff networks, staff recognition, and training and development opportunities, we are a Trust that is committed to sustainability, patient care, and continuous improvement.

We were the first Trust in the UK to be recognised by NHS England for our sustainability in infection prevention and control, reflecting our dedication to environmental responsibility while ensuring safe, effective care.

We embrace the ‘Improving Together’ approach, empowering staff to drive positive changes and enhance patient outcomes and care efficiency in their own areas and across the Trust. 

Our Way Forward Programme is pivotal in enhancing service delivery at Great Western Hospital, by integrating and streamlining services to ensure a balanced approach to urgent, emergency, and long-term care.

Finally, our Trust charity, Brighter Futures, plays a vital role in supporting the hospital by raising funds to enhance the environment for patients and staff.
