If you have been diagnosed with a new cancer, you will be referred to the site-specific Multidisciplinary (MDT) team which is responsible for diagnosing and treating your cancer.
If you have had a recent CT scan with proven cancer, but it is unclear where this newly diagnosed cancer originated, then you will be referred to the Cancer of Unknown Primary (CUP) MDT.
If you have symptoms which, though concerning, don't fit neatly into the established, site-specific urgent cancer referral guidelines, your GP may have referred you on the Non-Specific Symptoms (NSS) pathway, which may or may not diagnose a cancer.
