Prehabilitation and Rehabilitation

Prehabilitation has been shown to improve recovery from cancer and its treatment, reduce side effects, and the length of stay in hospital after treatment.

It also supports with readiness to rehabilitate, reducing delays to getting back to your normal activities.

Rehabilitation is focussed on reducing symptoms associated with cancer treatments, as well as supporting you back to your day-to-day life.

Whatever you’re struggling with, we can support you to make suitable goals and equip you with strategies to support yourself at home.

For more specific and targeted support, face-to-face and phone appointments are available with our cancer specialists to enhance recovery from physical and psychological consequences of cancer.

Classes

We offer targeted group-based classes to help with improving patient outcomes before, during and after receiving cancer treatment.

This is a circuit style program that includes education on various topics like diet and nutrition, how to help improve post operative recovery and much more.

These sessions are subject to an eligibility criteria and capacity. If you do not meet the criteria, we will discuss other methods of offering prehabilitation and rehabilitation for you.

Further support

CanBe classes

We work with Better Gyms to provide physical exercise classes tailored to people living with and beyond cancer.

The personal trainers facilitating the class are CanRehab qualified, meaning they can offer more bespoke and tailored exercise programs to people affected by cancer.

These classes come under a GP gym discounted scheme.

You can self-refer or ask your Clinic Nurse Specialist to refer you.

One to one appointments

We offer one to one appointments to help address physical conditions specifically related to cancer and cancer treatment. This includes joint pain, cording, reduced movement, scar management, peripheral neuropathy and strengthening post-surgery.

We also offer one to one appointments to help address a range of symptoms related to cancer, or cancer treatment, that are having an impact on daily activities. This includes fatigue and sleep, anxiety, body image, brain fog, returning to work and psychosexual issues.

They will help offer support and management strategies to enable individuals to reach their goals.
