Visiting hours

We encourage parents and siblings to be present as much as possible, including during ward rounds which take place at 9.30am each day.

Friends and family are welcome to visit but should avoid visiting during the ward rounds.

We are restricted to three visitors at a cot side at any time, one of which must be a parent.

During quieter periods we may be able to accommodate more than three visitors per cot space, but please liaise with the nurse caring for your baby before travelling.

No children under the age of 16 years may visit, unless they are a sibling.

Hand washing on entry to unit for all parents and visitors is vital to protect babies and minimise infection risk.

About us

The unit looks after babies who need more than the usual level of care, including those born prematurely, who are unwell after birth or who have antenatal concerns.

Parents are integral to ensuring their babies receive a high level of care, and we encourage you to speak with the healthcare staff daily, including your baby's consultant if required.

Facilities

We have three family stay rooms for parents who are close to discharge, extremely unwell, or whose family's are 'out of area' in the first instance - please speak to your nurse for more information.

Our parents pantry is a small kitchen facility which receives charitable food and drink donations.

Snack bags are provided to family members on the unit every lunch time.

Parents of babies can receive a discount on car parking tickets and the main restaurant.

There is a quiet space and sitting area, and a small children's play area for siblings.
